Dotline (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is a Mac app for thinking on a free-form canvas, with optional AI assistance. This policy explains what data Dotline handles.
Dotline has no accounts and no servers of its own. Your canvases stay on your Mac. Canvas content leaves your Mac only when you ask the AI for help, and then it goes directly to Anthropic using your own API key.
We do not receive or have access to any of this information.
When you use Expand with AI or Ask AI, Dotline sends your request, the text outline of the current canvas, and the text of the selected note to Anthropic (api.anthropic.com) using your API key. Dotline asks for your permission before the first request, and you can withdraw it at any time in the sidebar’s AI tab. Anthropic processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy and bills usage to your Anthropic account. We never see your API key or your requests.
If you connect an MCP client such as Claude Code, that client reads and edits the canvas you have open in Dotline, on your Mac. How the client handles that content is governed by its own terms.
Purchases of the 14-day trial and Dotline Pro are processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. We do not receive your payment details.
